Improve sitemap feature

We would like to announce an improvement to the sitemap feature, where the issuance process has been made automatic but under your control, you do not need to update the sitemap.xml file manually.

What has changed?

  • Creating a page and making it public will be automatically included in the file.
  • Creating a blog and making it public will be automatically included in the file.
  • Creating a tag or categories will be automatically included in the file.
  • When a user updates their privacy option and makes their account public, they will be included in the file.
  • When converting any blog, page, or account to private, it will be removed without affecting the rest of the elements.
  • When you delete a category or tag, it will be removed from the file.

What is the priority of the elements?

A fixed numbering of elements has been adopted based on the type of element, which is fixed and is as follows:

  • Page = 0.8 priority.
  • Blog post = 0.6 priority.
  • Blog category = 0.6 priority.
  • Blog tag = 0.4 priority.
  • User profile = 0.2 priority.

How to control the removal of specific items?

How to control the removal of specific items by accessing the system files then sitemap.xml and modifying the property manually, which will keep the elements as they are, provided that the second method does not affect them.

The second method is via a robots.txt file.

You can always undo all of the above by removing what you added, making items private, or deleting them, each according to the previous conditions.

Another thing to consider

  • changefreq It will always be set to weekly.
  • lastmod  It will always be set to the last time the sitemap.xml has been updated.
